10 facts you didn´t know you would like to know about La Seca

La Seca is a small and lovely spanish town near Valladolid. Its charm comes from its narrow streets, its centuries-old churches and its joyful traditions. Do you want to know more? Then join me in this list with the most interesting curiosities

1. In La Seca, everybody knows your name... if you have been living there for many years. Don´t expect them to know you if you just arrived ten minutes ago. They do not read minds. At least, that´s what I hope.

2. The demonym of La Seca is... garrapo. Did you expect that? Me neither. In the fight for the throne of the strangest demonym, people of La Seca is the Three-eyed crow. You would never expect it to win.

3. The "garrapos" have plenty of stories related to many topics, although they love to speak about that time when a tourist run in front of the bulls and one of the poor animal' longest horn was sticked into... his black hole; on the other hand, something usual during La Seca festivities. That´s what I think. I have never talked to one of them.

4. It´s easy to get drunk for free. Just walk into one of the bars and shout "I don´t like wine". They will invite you to many shots until you change your mind.

5. It´s well known that Prince Charles mentioned to Camilla in one of their secret phone conversations that "he was going to visit La Seca". IRA intercepted the communication and dispatched a team to the Spanish town. That´s the reason why there were so many irish people in La Seca during the summer of 86. Unfortunatly for them, Charles was talking about something else. As far as I know, He does not know the existence of the town.

Someone called these: "Glory Holes". It won´t be me.

6. Among its illustrious citizens, there are two international players of the Spanish National Team: Eusebio and Fonseca. This means that the town has the highest ratio of national team players per inhabitant in all of Spain. And we do not count Europe because there is San Marino, which fits in two streets of Peñaflor. You know, football, that sport that the Germans used to win until they realized that they were better off on Ibiza than sweating on the field grass.

7. The producers of Dr. Who visited the town looking for locations for a plot in the series where the doctor was visiting Spain looking for the strongest "torrezno". They were mistaken for IRA members because they were talking funny and imprisoned by the Spanish authorities. A replica of what would have been the local police booth remains as a souvenir of their visit.

8. Never ever talk about the Filoxera. If, for whatever reason, you need to say something about it, use "the bug who must not be named".

Traditional Swing

9. According to wikipedia, there is no mayor in La Seca. Therefore, this is the only anarchist village in the country, where a council of wise winemakers rules with iron hand in a wet glove.

10. Most of these facts are bullshit. If you want to know how wonderful La Seca is, just go there, as long as it´s allowed. There are not bulls on the streets (most of the time) And now, they are on Instagram.

Visit La Seca or you will receive the visit of three ghosts
